So I'm a little late this week... Sh*t happens.... doesn't mean I fell off the kindness wagon, it means I was researching... something I take pride in doing, research.... yupp thats right, I love learning- which brought me to this weeks act of kindness! Did you know, gloabally 65 MILLION girls are NOT IN SCHOOL THIS YEAR? What the BEEEEP.... are you kidding me? This outrages me.. I'm with Malala when she says "Extremists have shown what frightens them most: A girl with a book"!!!! I flash back started remembering when I was little- my report card comments would often say how I could be "caught in a day-dream" at school- I was an excellent student, striving for success; I'm a very intrinsic learner; however, my mind can wander a lot and you know what I often thought about as a kid, and still to this day? Why Me? Why did I get to be born in Canada, in a free country, where I didn't have to grow up covering my face, running from bombs, starving from day to day? What if I was born in Sierria, or Iraq, wouldn't life have been a lot different? These thoughts can take over from time to time- but the only thing I can do, is try my damn hardest to 'right the wrong' in the world! So- Today- after plenty of research, and the suggestion from my awesome Mommma- I went to Kiva.org and I donated money to a young woman who is trying to get her education! Meet Laura- |
So, as I sip my morning fair trade coffee, in my heated apartment and enjoy the little luxuries of life- I'm feeling pretty good knowing I am contributing society!
Follow my lead- maybe its not Laura, maybe its not even a woman, or a human- but today I DARE you to go find someone, something, somewhere where you can give back! Tell me about it:)
Ps.. Girls Rule!
