Tomorrow its back to the routine, my first day back with my students, my first basketball practice with my team and my first yoga class, many firsts for 2015. It seems as though you can have all these great ideas for how to be this super human, but then you know, you enjoy life, and you "get ready" and BOOM, 6 days have already passed me by in this new year.
Now, I do have to say, I live in High Level, AB, this small little northern community, where right now we're averaging about 6 hours of day light and temperatures in the -20 Celsius. But something "magical if you will" happened to our little community a little less than two months ago, and that little miracle was a TIM HORTONS! Yupp, thats right, the ol' Canadian Icon, of a never ending bustling drive through, and men sitting around with their newspapers grunting about their qualms, and hockey players running in to get their hot chocolate and titbits before their game, a typical Canadian Tim Hortons. In fact, memory serves me correct that I did a great act of kindness when our Timmy's opened and I donated one of my favourite winter jackets to the employees whom had all arrived from much warmer geographic points on the map.
But thats not my point...... this little Tim Hortons, has been the "place to go" for most people in town. So today, as I pulled up through the drive thru and ordered my medium black coffee, I looked back in my rearview mirror and thought,'this is it, this is my chance'! So when I handed my money over to the ever so pleasant employee, I said "Can you please take this $5.00 and use it towards whatever the person behind me is ordering, I hope it covers the cost". She looked a little surprised, shocked even, but she smiled (THE ONLY THING I AM LOOKING FOR FROM ALL OF THIS :) ) and said, "Thank You Mam, you have yourself a wonderful day". THE END
Well, not quite the end, but there you have it, nothing huge or spectacular, but I paid it forward, and bought the coffee for the person behind me, and you know what, it FELT GOOD!
Karma, its a wonderful thing! Stay tuned for what is to come in the following week!
